A fresh welcome
Last autumn the ColGlen Community Council - of which Cathleen and I are both members - decided it was time to refresh the information board at the Colintraive Ferry Pier. I had noticed some weeks before that it was in quite a mess and after looking at it with someone who knows much more about such things than me (thank you Peter) it was decided that we could save the distinctive structure but that we needed a new , purpose designed, information board.
I agreed that I would draft something and see about it getting it made. It took a while to get a text that the Community Council agreed, and a bit longer to secure the photographs that were to go with it . They are mostly mine, but we had to buy the rights to a couple that we needed.
Bute Signs were incredibly helpful throughout the process and tolerated endless to-ings and fro-ings about what should and shouldn't be on the map as well as some fiddling with the text as I realised there were things that either had been omitted which had to be included, or vica versa..
Anyway, the sign was brought across from Bute this morning and erected, and it looks very good. There is still a much smaller board featuring our two sign sponsors (the Colintraive Hotel and the Glendaruel Caravan Park) to be put in place and a strap of wood to be fixed at the top, but to all intents and purposes there is now a new fresh welcome to Colintraive and Glendaruel firmly in place and I hope it turns out to be be useful for a long time to come !
(I have added another view of it in my extra photos)
