Spring tides

Like yesterday we had the spring tides and the sea came right up to the top of the sea wall at high tide and went out for a few kilometres at low tide. We timed our day around the tides. When the tide was high we did our first road-bike ride of the year - which was good but I can feel I'm not fit after the winter...

In the afternoon we went to the beach with the dog for the low tide and managed to have a very good long walk. The first picture is a beach which is normally under water and is only exposed at all at very low tides and certainly inaccessible from the land except at low tides.

One of the extras is a Cancer pagurus crab or the edible crab. They are nocturnal scavengers and sleep during the day and aren't very active hence the common name for them in French as the sleeping crab.

The second extra is the dog, who had a great time at the beach and managed to find a bone which he ran around with...
