Lyme
We decided to visit Lyme this morning. It's a property run by the National Trust in Disley. Just a traffic jam few miles away from where we're staying. After a cup of coffee, Marian went to visit the house while I went to explore the extensive grounds. I first walked up to see The Cage. It was originally built around 1580 as a hunting lodge where the ladies could watch the hunt. In later years it was used as a game keeper's residence and as a jail for poachers. I've added it as an extra.
It stands all on it's own so it's difficult to make an interesting composition. I was also going to visit the Lantern but after walking quite a way, I realised i was still nowhere near it and it was getting for time to meet up with Marian.
I had a walk around the lake in front of the house and took the main blip. I didn't realise until getting back to base that the house was used a Pemberley, Mr Darcy's residence in the BBC version of 'Pride and Prejudice' and of course the lake was where Mr Darcy took his impromptu dip for the wet shirt scene.
It's been a lovely day but there's been a very strong wind blowing so I chose not to follow his example.
