One of the First
I watched a watercolour YouTube tutorial in "line and wash" by one of my favourite tutors, Paul Clark, based on a Japanese block print, and felt the urge to try myself. I recalled that the National Trust's Cliveden garden had a water garden with a pagoda which would be a good subject (extra), so headed over for the afternoon.
It was a glorious sunny spring day - no coats or jumpers required - and I had a lovely afternoon walking down to the river and back before consuming the obligatory ice cream and settling down to sketch my pagoda using monotone brush pens.
When I get the urge, I'll paint a coloured version sometime, but in the meantime I was delighted to see the first butterflies of the season on the wing including brimstones and this comma seen as I struggled headed back up the path from the river.
