Northern New Zealand Dotterel
An endangered species of sea and shore bird found only in parts of the coastal areas of the North Island.
Extra: Waikawau Bay where we are staying for the next few days.
Another example of a Pohutukawa clinging to the cliff face where it is surviving very well.
Sadie is one of our travelling companions. She was weaving flax to make a flower. She wasn’t very happy with the end result so wouldn’t let me photograph it. She was doing it on her knee but said she should have used a table so she could put pressure on the folds. Hopefully she will try it again so I can show you the finished produce.
