Not Superman
The sculpture atop one of the gate posts at the entry from Park Road into Pukekawa was designed and effected in bronze by Richard Gross and erected in 1936. Apparently the idea came to him after he met a New Zealand sprinter.
This sculpture was the subject of the first photo I blipped after joining. Some weeks later I realised that I had joined a day earlier than I had thought; because of Scotland being 12 hours behind NZ. Fortunately, I had a photo taken the day before, and posted that as a second first blip. I was unable to tolerate the thought of a zero day.
The sun was striking both the sculpture and the parking building by the entry to the Auckland City Hospital grounds
