Elloughton Gardens Homestead
Originally known as The Grange....take a look at it in extra, a magnificent building, originally a two storyed, 17 roomed mansion which was built on the outskirts of Timaru. Built for William Grant in 1893 on a 1,000 acre farm, it was designed by Maurice Duval an Belgian architect. In the 1950s it was purchased by the Canterbury Hospital Board and used as a home for the elderly. Now known as the Elloughton Gardens Homestead.
Back in mid 1960's my special Nana spent her last few years as a resident here.
Today, our photography group were very privileged to be allowed to photograph part of the interior, obviously places where the residents weren't. Thanks to oldTimer for organising this. I really enjoyed being able to wander about doing photography that I wouldn't normally do. Once edited, I'll put a link to my Flickr album.
Busy morning, up early to make muffins for our visitors - so neat to have them here, we only ever catchup every few years, but as is it is friends we just pick up where we left off....we have a lot of history. Old friends, priceless.
I'm really tired tonight, already in my 'jimjams'.
