Busy buzzing
I worked in K's garden this morning and the whole time there was a background buzz of bees. They were busy sucking out sweetness from the flowers of strawberry tree which dominates the lawn next to the garden beds.
Intermittently a tui called from a gum tree, magpies warbled away and later on a bellbird sang melodiously from a beech.
It was a lovely morning.
After lunch Bean and I went for a long walk at Bortons Pond, where there were water birds aplenty. Underfoot there were fungi of many varieties, and the Californian poppies are still blooming. See the extras.
It was a proper leg-stretch for both of us. We needed it.
As a result though I am squishing heaps of tasks into this evening.
