Falls of Clyde

Scott and myself went off to New Lanark today to see the fully restored 18th century cotton mill village.

The whole village now enjoys World Heritage Site status and ...first rose to fame when Robert Owen was mill manager from 1800-1825. Owen transformed life in New Lanark with ideas and opportunities which were at least a hundred years ahead of their time. Child labour and corporal punishment were abolished, and villagers were provided with decent homes, schools and evening classes, free health care, and affordable food.

As well as the village itself there are wonderful walks through the woods either side of the Falls of Clyde to enjoy. (Try it large.)

If you can, go.
