I've got a plan. We, Indie & I, walk a different route across the heath everyday, so lucky to be on the doorstep. This mornings route took us up Black path, across the road, along a muddy path, before joining a very old path which has been in use since I was a child. The muddy bit has a very muddy ditch part way along so I decided to come back on this path, with fingers crossed, some lengths of timber left behind after DWT repaired a wooden kissing gate, placing the lengths of timber across the ditch. Indie I & I continued our walk, we did a loop walking back towards the tadpole puddles... Oh no!! No water, the tadpoles just laying there en masse. I stuck my finger down into the mud, there were a few wriggles... I only had a poo bag in my back pocket. Would it do the job proposed. I scooped up the tadpoles & mud, placed them in the bag. Off to the pond. Yesterday's tadpoles looked happy enough, hopefully some of these will make it too. I returned to the muddy puddle, scooped up more. Back to the pond, released them. Some just lay on top of the water, some wriggled. I swished the water to & fro. I've seen them place fish back in the water, moving the fish to & fro, then letting them swim away. I thought it might revive at least some of the tadpoles. I know, it's silly. Should I have messed with nature..
Walking back across the heath, I picked up the lengths of wood, found a rock to knock the nails down flush to the timber so as not to cause any accidents. Carried it back to the muddy section, laid it across, firmed it down, then headed home.
Back at Mum's. She'd taken the box of individual Princess torta out of the freezer.. Argh. I removed one, then placed the remaining 3 back in the freezer. She could probably eat four, but 1 for pudding is quite sufficient.
We had our coffee outside while plane spotting. I did a bit of deadheading, plus tying in the vigorous new growth on the clematis armandii.
Ham salad, & new potatoes for lunch today. And you know what for pud.

Back home... Oh dear!! I've got the silent treatment.
"you said you'd be home by 1pm".
There is no way I would have said that as 1pm is when Mum has her meal.
4 pieces of mail opened & on the table.. Hospital correspondence.. One letter saying J should have attended but did'nt, & had'nt cancelled.
"I thought you said you'd cancelled that appointment"?
"I did"
SILENCE.
He did'nt want any lunch. I made mine & sat in the sunshine.
"Are you going to sort that out?". Referring to the hospital correspondence.
"Not now, it's to nice to be stuck indoors"
He did'nt want to go out.
So I went out. I can't stand this sulky behavior. I went to the allotment.. Unwrapped the bare root plum tree I bought in Tesco's, gave the roots a good soak in a bucket of water. Weeded a good bit of my plot, mainly rosebay willow herb which lifts quite easily with a hand fork. I 've decided to manure & cover one section of the plot as I don' t have time to tend it properly this year. Filled the compost bin to the top with all the weeds.
Fruit bushes are looking good, just need to weed around them, that will be fun.. Prickly goosegobs. I caught my arm on a stick today and made it bleed. My skin is thinning. Planted the plum tree, giving it a good soaking in, then staked it. 5.50pm.. Time to head home... A good afternoons work. Pleased with the results.. Beautiful sunny afternoon, but I really prefer to garden early morning. Maybe tomorrow morning.
SILENCE...
"Did you phone them?"
"No I did'nt, I'll phone them in the morning"
Watched the news, the search continues in both Myanmar, & Thailand for survivors/bodies after the earthquake at the weekend. I've messaged my friends in both Myanmar, & Bangkok, they are all safe fortunately.
Made dinner, picked in the laundry while the soup was bubbling away.
Time for a shower, then bed.
