Modern transport

I had a problem getting to sleep last night because of a tickly cough and ended up sitting fairly upright in bed - and woke with a bruise on my backside so must have slept soundly eventually!
First thing we headed to Ullapool for some shopping then dropped it off before heading off for a walk.
To reach the parking place from the main road we had 7 miles of a very narrow, quite rough and up-and-downy road to reach the parking spot. Then 3 miles along the coast on a rough-at-times path, including round a bit of cliff (the last promontory in the 1st extra) to the remote community of Scoraig. The path improved to become a track but there are no roads to this 2 mile long collection of crofts and the only other access is by boat.
They are off-grid, though most houses have wind turbines and solar panels, and they have a good number of trees for fuel. Having been desrted in the past the population is slowly growing and there are now about 80 residents, some of whom were brought up there, and a school. The houses are very variable but some are quite large and modern. We did see one ordinary car but they aren't really much use! We walked almost to the jetty and stopped for lunch and then headed back.
It's hard to give a good impression of the place but the first extra shows some of the first scattered houses we came to, most of the buildings are well sheltered by trees.
The weather was a bit showery early but that gave some fine scenes up the loch and across to the mountains - second extra.
Nearly 10 miles of walking and then back along the narrow road to the main one and then our house and a relaxing evening.
