Sightseeing Savonlinna
It's been a long day and I'm exhausted. Very eager to go to bed.
Tomorrow will be another long day. After that the day might get easier. At least I hope so.
This evening we took a cab to see the near by city of Savonlinna. Nothing - NOTHING - is open at this time of year. You might not believe me, but not even restaurants are open here. It's so beautiful, but deserted. We just walked around.
We walked to the castle of Olavinlinna (not in the picture) and back to the market square. Savonlinna is known for its bridges and there are worth the hype. I hope I get to come here someday during the summer season and cycle around.
The Saimaa Lake is known for its seals. In the picture you can see one seal (made of stone). The taxi driver told us how he'd seen a living seal on ice just this morning. We saw the picture and video of it. They actually arrange some kind of "seal safaris" around here. The name of a baby seal is "kuutti". Every year all the kuuttis are counted as the Saimaa Seal (Pusa hispida saimensis) is highly endangered species.
