Rhubarb! Rhubarb! ……….
………and that happy gardener with his first pickings of the year.
He planted a new lot, given to him by his friend, in 2023.
You are not supposed to harvest it in its first year.
But it has been nurtured and cared for, until this Spring of 2025, on the last day of March, some of it has now been picked and has been made into a very yummy Rhubarb Crumble, which we have both enjoyed at lunchtime..
I’ve posted some more in extras.
I have been in the usual place this morning after our afternoon walk yesterday. It is giving the hip time to have a bit of a rest,
And what a glorious day in which to enjoy it.
March is “going out like a lamb this year.” as the saying goes.
Stephen has been wonderful.
All the towels were out on the line first thing, followed by the general wash, which isn’t really that big given there are only two of us,
It is all nearly dry and coming up to 14:00.
I will be sitting out in the garden this afternoon with my two books.
One is a French detective novel, set in Alaska, called Aurore du Sang. Quite a fairly easy read dropped off by someone from French Conversation group the other day,
The other is one my friend gave me to read, called the Labyrinth in English by Kate Mosse, set both in France in the Middle Ages, and present-day France.
I am enjoying them both. The Labyrinth is more meaty.
