Dogue de Bordeaux

It had to be Baldur, the Dogue de Bordeaux today - what an amazing animal this is!  Weighing in at 180 pounds, this would not be a "starter" dog for anyone.  That said, he is a gentle soul and seems to be very laid back.  If you set aside the massive amounts of drool!  I kind of randomly picked this shot because I have not even begun to go through all of my pictures yet.  I will put one more of Baldur in Extra - just because he is that special.  Isn't it kind of funny that yesterday I photographed a 2 pound dog and today, one that weighs 180?  

Interestingly, several people asked that I not photograph their dogs which I thought a strange request.  But who am I to argue?  I just took a little break while their dogs were in the ring.  Ironically, at the end of the day, one of the people who've been very adamant about not having her Malinois dogs photographed, asked me to take pictures of one of the dogs with the ribbons it won today.  So okay.

Today was Obedience which is different than Rally (what I photographed yesterday).  It is definitely more "formal" but there is a lot about it that I really liked, including the fact that the arena is not covered in the square white signs that Rally uses.  But also there were good images possible from dogs that were being asked to stay in a Sit or a Stand while the owner circled the arena.  All in all, very fun and continues to be a learning curve.

I took way too many photos (bet you could have predicted that, yes?) so I know what I will be doing for the next few days...
