Sunday at The Crown
Here are today’s clutch of cars sitting outside our pub in the sunshine.
I was in the kitchen and saw Margret sitting in her garden in a wheelchair. Kevin had brought her from the Care Home and she was enjoying the sunshine.
I walked with them to The Crown where they were having Sunday lunch before going to plant new plants at Guy’s grave.
I had a lovely walk through Acomb Woods. The wood anemones are out in profusion, looking delicate and delightful. I did a bit more practising with my mobile phone camera but reverted quickly to my “proper” camera with the close up lens!
I met a dog walker who told me about his present dog, a Patterdale cross, who has Patterdale attitude. The dog went ahead and looked back; you could almost see her put her hands impatiently on her hips while he chatted.
His longest lived dog was with a “horrible man” selling dogs in a pub. He said he was going to drown the little puppy who was a dachshund/Jack Russell cross, so £5 changed hands. The puppy lived to the age of 21 and his main bad habit was his addiction to beer. He would bite into a beer can to drink his favourite tipple.
I know it was not April 1st today - and I believed him.
Tonight Liz and Nick invited me to eat with them. (Three orphans on Mothering Sunday!) Liz cooked a large lamb shank. Mmmm.
