Keep it local
Had the builder in this morning to do a couple of jobs so time to iron, pack and clean.
A blip of my shopping from our local shops because that is as far as I've been today. We're fortunate that we have such good shops in Saltaire and it's so much more pleasurable than walking round the supermarket.
Saltaire is one of the three finalists in The Acadamy of Urbanism
Great Neighbourhood Award category and is up against Grand Canal Quarter in Dublin and West End in Glasgow. The Academy of Urbanism is a self-funded, politically independent organization led by over 500 leaders, thinkers and practitioners involved in the social, cultural, economic, political and physical development of our villages, towns and cities.
It was formed in 2006 to recognise, learn from, and promote excellence in great placemaking. Since then, they have grown to work pro-actively with places to nurture and help them become more resilient.
The assessments have been done this week and I look forward to hearing the results which will be announced in November. It certainly gets my vote as a fantastic community to live in and it's always good to see positive promotion of Saltaire. On a similar note my mum informed me today that Saltaire features on the front of the M & S 2014 Calendar of Towns and Cities. Can't believe she was calendar shopping in August!
