The accidental finding

The most exciting or scary thing that happened today was that while I was visiting S, we realised that a bird had fallen down his chimney stack and got stuck. Twigs were falling into the fireplace, but S and his flatmate couldn’t retrieve the bird (I did not even try) so they called their landlord, who appeared with gardening gloves on and a wooden board. He managed to dislodge the unfortunate pigeon, which had a few feathers missing, and take it to the window, whereupon it flew away. Phew!

S cooked me lunch, and afterwards I went to town to buy a newspaper but ended up staying a while, looking around the library and charity shops. Had to get the bus part of the way home because I was so tired, maybe because of all the airing of the bedding earlier, which was a massive task. We have managed to change it all, and turn the mattress. Sadly we did not find any money underneath.

Emotions are wobbly today. I’m ok until anyone asks me how I am. Many will know that feeling.
