A grand day out
Today I had the happy experience of meeting up with famed blipper Jeano to take in an art exhibition at the MAC in Belfast.
The introductory blurb says: “I See His Blood Upon the Rose presents intriguing juxtapositions between artists and works spanning centuries. Central to the exhibition is the work of two remarkable women artists Rachel Ruysch (1664 – 1750) and Mary Delany (1700 – 1788).”
J was very dedicated and made a two-hour train journey up from Dublin; I had a twenty-five minute drive, but I wouldn’t have known about the exhibition if J hadn’t brought it to
my attention. We looked around three floors of the gallery and found that we mostly liked the same artwork.
The photo is of our own efforts at the end of our time together. Typically, Jeano’s artwork is the colourful one! It is based on the work of Ted Pim (The butterfly effect) while my more monochrome drawing is after a Robert Mapplethorpe photo (Flower).
I had such a lovely morning, meeting Jeano and chatting about art and life. Thank you, J, for the invitation and the tea and scone afterwards. We plan a follow-up in the summer!
