Under the wing

I was in Bute at lunch time, speaking at the 20th Anniversary lunch of Fyne Futures , an organisation that has contributed much to the island and which continues to promote community sustainability and cohesion.  Long may it flourish !

The event was held in the Baird of Bute room in the Victoria Hotel, and I found myself sitting almost underneath the model of the plane that Baird built and flew in 1910.

I sent a copy of the picture this morning to Chris Markwell in Canada whose imagination and leadership has done so much not just for Baird's memory, but for the wider community and especially the young people of the island.   

He stepped down as Chair of the Society last year and I gave up being a Trustee at the same time but the work it does continues.
