Farewell to Katie
M and I are about to drive to Norwich to change our car for a newer model.
We bought ‘Katie’ ten years ago (her registration number starts KT…). At the time M was starting treatment for cancer and we were facing 6 weeks of long trips to the hospital (5 days per week) and needed a reliable car. So, we bought Katie, a hybrid car and have been absolutely delighted with her ever since. (M is fine now).
Katie is beginning to get to the age where repairs might be needed so we decided it’s time to replace her.
I don’t know whether it’s because of the reasons we bought her, and that she’s seen us through some challenging times, but I feel rather attached to her and I’m sorry that she’s going.
Car technology has changed such a lot in the last eleven years since she was manufactured and although we’re buying exactly the same hybrid car again, I’ve no doubt it will all seem a lot different.
The little lion keying (‘Scruff’) is our in-car reminder. You know what it’s like, you’re driving along and need to remember something, so Scruff gets put in the door handle pocket to remind us as we get out that we need to do something. He’s very useful and he’ll be an essential companion in our new car.
