Wicker’s Whirled!

OK I admit it. I used to watch Alan Whicker’s eponymous TV docs before tourist travel took off. Today we watched these wicker toboggans skidding towards Funchal with intrepid tourists, on board, in lieu of barrels of wine - the original purpose of these sleds. We spent the day in the Tropical Gardens. Simply stunning. We traveled by local buses. Cheap but precarious on the steep bendy roads! 10k steps climbed today! Swam again when we returned to the hotel.
