Apricot blossoms

I have a small offspring from the apricot tree, that died a few years ago. When the apricots were ripe in the hot summer, I went to work often till midnight to prepare the ripe fruit and I made marmalade, apricot bread and apricot pie.
The harvest of the fruit reminds me of the summers when my grandmother  was doing the same with the fruit from our vegetable garden. My grandfather walked or bicycled to the garden colony almost every day after his retirement and my grand-mother even made jelly, quite some work, and put the fruit in jars for the winter. These were the hard years after the war, but I grew up on fruits and vegetables. I am still eating the same way. No more chicken or meat, we had that on Sundays including rabbit. This will stir some memories of the older folks. Of course I did not eat this, even though they came from the other grand-father who went on a hunting trip with a forester, a well respected sport for gentlemen. I was invited over when they arrived after the hunt and helped with taking the skin of the rabbit off and plugged the feathers from the pheasants... I know......
I am a vegetarian now.
