Coral Bay.
Today M and I had a lazy day by the pool at the front of our apartment, occasionally dipping in for a swim, but for the most part, just lying in the sun. After a week, I can just about lie in the direct light without frying to a crisp! At lunchtime we headed in and I cooked burgers before we had a shower and cleaned ourselves up to meet M’s colleague S and his wife H, who were coming to pick us up. S and H had rented a villa in Stroumpi, which they took us to for a beer first. It was a gorgeous place, and huge, but quite far from the sea. We spotted a few lizards in their garden and I was surprised by how lush and green all the plants were.
After a drink and a chat, S drove us out to a little bay on the way back to Paphos which had a lovely grassy area for the seating with views out to the sea caves and a shipwreck that was almost on the shore! M and I vowed to come back for some more pictures, it was spectacular!
After a wonderful non-boozy mojito, S and H took us to the Coral King for dinner. My salad was not as healthy as I’d hoped – drowning in creamy dressing and huge – but the entertainment was top-notch, with two guys Greek-dancing and then one of the men stacking tumblers on his head while he danced a jig – at one point he had 13 tumblers and a wine glass balanced, which he casually danced in circles.
After he’d wowed us with that trick, he got all the women in the restaurant to form a huge conga line and he led us out into the street, much to the bemusement of all those on their commute home! We were led back inside and then one by one helped up onto a table to dance in front of everyone – my idea of a nightmare but I just couldn’t say no!
We were very full and sleepy by 11pm and S and H kindly drove us home where we crashed out under the air con unit in the bedroom!
