Breakfast stop
Packed our camp yet again, and headed off east. We stopped at Tākaka on the way for a delicious breakfast at a cafe we had spotted when passing through a few days ago. A leisurely start - brekky, coffee and newspapers.
Then on to Motueka and finally Keiteriteri.
Whilst travelling we are listening to a New Zealand nursery mystery book - Better the Blood by Michael Bennett. It’s a good story so far and the reader is great - particularly in providing the Māori pronunciations , so much better than if I had been reading the book! It’s got us gripped so the car journeys are a pleasure - we just need to have a little recap on the story to remember where we had got to!
Our destination today was our final Home Exchange house - this one is a holiday home so feels different from the others we have been to. Half an hour after we arrived there was a knock at the door and a lady handed over a bottle of champagne and a card to me. I was a little taken aback but accepted it most gratefully. Sadly a little later I noticed the card was addressed to the owners, not me! I took the champagne back out of the fridge. It seems the owners have just completed the sale of the house - and that was the estate agent being grateful!
Anyway, the house is lovely. Big - too big for just the two of us! Lovely views out over the bay and a few minutes walk down to 2 pretty beaches. Sadly the area is a bit overdeveloped with very large holiday homes (yes, I know I am staying in one), and still more being built. But I’ll take it for now. Our reason for choosing here is to access the Abel Tasman Park which is just a few miles along the coast.
