'You're digging it round and it ought to be square

Those of you who remember this song from Bernard Cribbins will now be singing it all evening.....apologies!

The lampposts along our street have gradually been replaced in recent weeks with more up to date and slimmer LED ones.  It was the turn of the one outside neighbour Peter's house this morning and, at one point there were three vehicles carrying various pieces of machinery and five chaps looking down the hole they were digging around the base of the pole.  By the time I had taken my creaky knee to the Doc's and returned home, the old post was gone and the new one in place and they were making good.  They had even placed Peter's bat box, taken from the old one, high up on the new one.  Good job.

The young efficient GP (they all look very young these days) listened to my concerns and how I had been trying to strengthen around my problematic knee and made me an appointment at radiology to see what is going on with it,  if it is something which will show up on x ray.  She also gave me a prescription for ibuprofen gel which I can use when it becomes painful.  Depending on the outcome of the x ray it may mean a steroid injection into the knee or I may just have to put up with the issues of getting older!

Back home I've paid a call on elderly neighbour M who is gradually withdrawing from and tiring of life.  So sad to see her just existing. I filled up the bird feeder in the drying ground and watered my flowerpots.  I then did a half hour of recorder practice before prepping dinner and taking in the last of the washing from the line.  It has been a good day for drying, breezy and sunny.

There was some organisation to do of the Children's afternoon ahead of next weekend's Bug Hotel building and I forgot to add that we paid a visit to the garden centre for rakes and secateurs, spending some of the grant money received recently.
