Swamp wanderer
Another beautiful day for walking the marshes.
I persuaded R to come with me for a walk across Low Thurlton Marsh, with a promise of good birding and she reluctantly eschewed her gardening and accompanied me with Tess.
The marsh gate was closed during COVID and it was the first time we'd walked out that way since the plague.
It looked like I had dragged her from her potatoes for no reason, The courting swans, egrets and herons didn't cut it for her, when we saw barn owl quartering the polders carrying off voles to her nest in the cow shelter. This sight was quickly followed by a hunting marsh harrier!
I also captured my first butterfly (see extras) a small tortoiseshell, which I saw very rarely last year.
