Life through the lens...

By ValC

A day out with the Pudseys.

MrC wasn’t too good this morning. His right leg is causing him problems. The physio thinks it is sciatica. So I drove to Huby village near Harrogate, on my own, to meet up with the Pudsey Ramblers.

Proved to be quite a challenging walk!
Should have been 5 miles but because of a few wrong turns we actually did just over 6!
Some very awkward styles, and had to climb a five bared gate. You can see one of our members, after climbing a style had to bend low under a tree, and then walk across a stream.

We were very glad to reach Weeton village where we stopped for lunch. Sat on benches in the church yard.

The church was very interesting. Built in the 1800s, with funds provided by the Earl of Harewood, in the Gothic Revival style. The architect was George Gilbert Scott who also designed the Albert Memorial.

On the way back we followed a path through fields only to find our way blocked as the path over the railway had been closed off.
( would have been nice if they had put a sign up at the beginning of the footpath)
So back to the road which we then followed back to the carpark.

Collage of the walk. Lovely to see many wild flowers including primroses, wood anemones, and white violets.
The weather was perfect. Sunny and 18C.
Oh and I saw my first male Brimstone butterfly. The bright sulphur- yellow colour really stood out in the sunshine.

Now back home, feet up, and MrC has made me a nice cuppa.
Then a nice soak in a hot bath.
Even if tiring and great day out with my Pudsey Rambler friends. 14 of us today.
