The Pensioner

Loot

Out to the old gaff in the morning to assist in removing windows for a clean. There may be a Home Report in the offing, so there was the opportunity to look at some items that maybe shouldn’t go to the charity shop. Here are three of them.
The Golden Carpet was a book written by Somerset de Chair (yes, really) about a WW2 expedition to darkest Iraq to put down a pro-nazi revolt by the Iraqis. One where my Dad played a small part as a truck driver. Sadly, I only came across that book after he had died, but back before the Internet, researching which books had ever been published and about what subjects was no easy task. I wonder if either of my kids, or grandkids will be interested.
