Life's Little Moments

Spring...

Spring in our part of the world can involve a full spectrum of seasonal weather.  Take today, for example - we've had sun, we've had clouds, we've had snow.  The high temp will only be in the high 40's.  But on Saturday, we should hit 75 F with lots of sun (I will be indoors almost all day shooting a dog event).

Anyway... this snow flurry lasted only about 10 minutes and caused a flurry of activity at our feeders.  I didn't want to step outside for multiple reasons, so I shot this through the kitchen window.  It's a bit soft, but not bad considering the double pane windows.  You may think that I just blipped this species, but in fact, this is a Hairy Woodpecker, which is almost double the size of the Downy Woodpecker I blipped a few days ago (HERE).  In addition to the size difference, the beak on the hairy is also quite a bit longer in comparison to the size of its head.  The size difference isn't actually all that noticeable until you see the two species side by side.

Because it was chilly, I didn't spent a whole lot of time outside but took advantage of some quiet time to watch some photography videos and read some tips on photographing horse events.  Jax has been very happy to curl up next to me on the sofa while I work on my laptop.

Cheers,
Debbi
