Grumpy Old Man

By Maurice1948

Spring is in the air!

Another dull day, but still dry. Down to Kwik Fit this morning to have a tyre replaced - couldn't believe it when they told me that the price for the tyre had gone up from the £86 I paid last September to £106 today! Staff wage increase, the man said! Must have been a good pay rise!

I went along to Park Primary School afterwards with a load of litter pickers, gloves and rubbish bags, the last two supplied by our local branch of MKM who have done so on several occasions. The school's eco-group are doing a litter pick next Wednesday and dragging their parents along. Keep Oban Beautiful is always keen to encourage them!

The last meeting of the Photo Club tonight - our social night. Committee members will bring prizes for the raffle and we'll enjoy home made cakes and plenty of good chat. We've decided on our three subjects for next season's competitions - 'At ground level', 'Doorways' and 'Street Photography'. Should be interesting! There was an amazing picture in today's 'Herald' of the front view of a toad, taken at ground level, face to face. I wish I'd taken it - it would have fitted our first competition so well! I've borrowed it for my extra today!

My Blip today is of some pots of bulbs sitting on a bench opposite our front door. Spring is definitely here!

Quote of the Day: 'The clever men at Oxford, know all that there is to be knowed. But they none of them know one half as much, as intelligent Mr. Toad.' -  Kenneth Grahame.
