You’d think I’d have more time
For someone unemployed I seem to be very busy.
I think my little friend DOES enjoy seeing me. He has so much more pep when I walk him than he did at the beginning of last week or than the neighbors have seen from him for a while.
This week I have been working on a proposal. I and someone I once worked for in Mozambique and a gender expert he knows are putting in a proposal. I don’t REALLY think we’ll win, but it is a good proposal. Maybe we will start a company. When we finish this proposal and send it in we will discuss other ideas. It is after 11 pm and I have finished working on the proposal for the day.
Am I such an entrepreneur? No, but no one is even interviewing here now. The job market will be toast until the Trump induced recession runs out. I will keep job hunting, of course, and I will hunt for jobs that are not in the Washington DC area, and I will talk with people about other ideas for getting us through.
Ukraine said Russia lost 61 artillery systems, 18 armored fighting vehicles, and five tanks yesterday. They also lost 118 drones, 98 other vehicles and fuel tanks, and 3 multiple launch rocket systems.
They released a video showing their drones destroying a RUssian armored recovery vehicle. So much of this war is really about communication with Ukraine civilians and with the country’s allies that it is valuable that they include little cameras and take all these videos. I wonder if we’ll do that in future wars too. It reminds me of a Tom Lehrer song about WWIII being televised. https://youtu.be/pklr0UD9eSo?si=maRABmoyU5hjZoq7
Ukrainian jets destroyed a Russian base in the Kursk region.
Ukraine is now the most mined country in the world. The State Emergency Service has drones and robots to help spot and remove them. One of them looks like WALL-E from the movie. Poland gave Ukraine the robot. It is the size of a carry-on suitcase.
