In the evening I went to see Public Service Broadcasting at The Usher Hall and it was unexpectedly joyous. If somebody had told me that thousands of people would be dancing away to songs about Sputnik, Amelia Earhart, coal mining, Everest and Yuri Gagarin, I’d have said they were mad. But these are the times we live in.
