I didn’t sleep well and when I got up to stay up at 6 o’clock I knew what I was going to do today . . . rest.

I was in the garden at 9.30 looking for a blip. I tried daffodils and primroses but it was the new growth on the dogwood, still wet from overnight rain, that won.

The sun has been shining in all day, forcing me to dust the coffee table, but apart from a bit of general tidying and putting everything from a supermarket delivery in the cupboards/fridge/freezer, I’ve done just what I planned . . . lazed on the sofa.
