Horse Chestnut
After having my hair cut this morning, I met G for a walk on the Lowes and in Holt Country Park, plus a cuppa at Hetty's. It was very quiet, few people around and no signs of wildlife. My photo is of a horse chestnut bud I spotted whilst drinking a hot chocolate. I was astonished on the way back to see a new development of houses that go right up to the edge of the country park that I didn't know about. They look nice houses in a nice location, but sooooooo many new houses have been built in Holt since I moved here eight years ago. This has led to all local resources that were already stretched, being at breaking point, not least parking in Holt. Even outside holiday times, all car parks are full for a lot of every day, and forget it after 10 am for at least 9 months of the year. There's a dental 'desert' in North Norfolk and the surgeries and chemists are struggling. Hospital resources are insufficient. Politicians always talk about the lack of house building in the UK, but all my life I've lived in places with amazing amounts of house building - I want to know where the other places are that haven't grown at all!!!
