The tiny circle at the end of the first sentence is a kind of punctuation used in Japanese. Never seen it used in an English sentence! ...Of course it was mistakenly used there. 

Had a day trip to three prefectures by train with my father. At the end of the day we went to our favourite soba noodle restaurant in Nagano station. This sign was captured at Takasaki station, Gunma prefecture.
