Who yer lookin’ at?
I think this may be the first cat that I’ve blipped but when I came across this ginger tom I had to photograph him. I fairly confidently say it’s a “he” as Mrs GM, who is a retired Geneticist, informs me that there is a 75-80% chance that a pure ginger cat is a male. She explained that the recessive orange colour gene is on the X chromosome so that a male only has to inherit one orange gene from a parent, while a female has to inherit two orange genes, one from each parent. Such are the wonders of sex linked inheritance.
