Champion curler

I often see Charlotte McKenna at the Peak Sports Village, in Stirling where she is a regular participant in wheelchair curling.

Today I stopped to chat and learnt  she recently won a silver medal at the World Curling Mixed Doubles Championships in Ayrshire and earned a spot in next year's Paralympic Winter Games.

Her story is one of courage, determination and resilience.
At four years old, she was involved in a road accident that resulted in spinal injuries and led to her using a wheelchair for life.

She now trains three times a week in preparation for next year's Paralympics.
“A gold medal is my goal,” she says.
