Tortoiseshell Buddleia

Up a stepladder on the lawn to get this one. I have seen so many great insect pictures taken with macro, rings, etc that I have qualms about posting this. I wanted to catch the insect doing something with its marvelously flexible proboscis so I took a number of shots. the brightness made it hard to exactly what was being taken and I had to rely on autofocus to find the appropriate part! My adjustable screen was a real boon too so I could do above the head stuff.
The hairiness of the back was surprising and I was amazed I got as much facial detail as I did with the Coolpix.
