Stipple Study

Stippling - basically lots and lots of dots to represent the lights, darks and details of the plant.

It's the latest part of my course, creating a picture in pen and ink. The technique is representative of a form of printing long before modern technology but is still used today by botanical illustrators to show minute, scientific detail. It is a popular art form in its own right and very effective.

I found this ivy on my local walk and decided it would be a great subject to practice on. I hope you like it.
