From inside Buckingham Palace….

This is a view from inside the courtyard of Buckingham Palace during the changing of the guard routine when the Regiment my son was commanding passed the guard over to another regiment. We were part of a small group invited by officers taking part to observe.
We were not really meant to take any photos but the police on the gate said they would turn a blind eye to a few. It was very strange to have all the tourists looking at us when we were escorted through the gates. The whole ceremony took around an hour with bands for both regiments too. 

The whole routine was very new to me as up to now my son has not been in a regiment like this so no displays or marching for him for quite a while.  We had a nice young officer to escort us, explain things and answer my numerous questions.

A very different day.

After we went to the Ivy in Victoria for lunch. Food fairly good but service very poor.
