Cake season

Got up and made a cake for J's birthday today. Got the sandwich layers done before pilates and then made the buttercream and assembled it when I got back. We had cards,  a few presents and cake after lunch. It is T's birthday next weekend so I expect I'll repeat the process. They were never meant to have birthdays so close to each other but one was early and the other a bit delayed. 
Went for a walk to recycle glass and buy more baking parchment.  I have more cakes to make tomorrow for our work cake sale on Tuesday in aid of toilet twinning. 
Spent the rest of the afternoon making leaves for a crochet succulent from my birthday book. It's going to be rather big. Saw birds going in and out of the nest box in the back garden.  They might be coal tits. Robin box at the front does not seem to be occupied yet.
