Coot chicks

I went for a walk around the village this morning and was pleased to see the first coot chicks.  There were seven of them in the reeds at the castle, being frd by their parents. They're such strange looking little things!

I also saw a little egret by the brook in the castle field but it was too far away to get a decent photo.
