Burley Hill quarry

A walk with my grandson D. We went to an area just outside of Mold called Maeshafn. My pic shows the old entrance to Burley Hill quarry that has been closed for some 20 years. It's good to see that nature is slowly reclaiming the site. 

Whilst walking we came across an old abandoned cottage. Quite a distance from the nearest road with no direct access. At some point someone has spent a lot of money, as it had a new roof and the structure had been stabilised. Then work must have stopped quite suddenly as there were a large number of bags of cement inside which had gone hard with age. It also had a small pigsty in the 'garden' which had also had work done to it, including a new roof. 

Oh and Batman seems to have set up home inside.
