Mist on the River Frome
Guy loves photographing misty scenes so he checked a few sites for mist before picking us up at 5am this morning. There was mist in some places, so we drove around Corfe Castle - but nothing there - so instead drove on to Wareham where we photographed the boats on the Frome River in the mist as the sun came up. The conditions were beautiful, so golden with lovely light. This image has hardly been edited, the colours are as they were.
Then we went on to photograph St Catherine’s Chapel in Abbotsbury, looking down on it from the hill above. We also photographed the erosion ridges in the steep hillsides on Eggardon Hill in the sunlight, which made lovely patterns. It is an ancient hill fort about 2500 years old.
Today the car registered 21C but that was only for an hour or so as the wind was cold, and if you were in the wind it felt nothing las warm as that.
We had brunch at a cafe in Dorchester before going back to our B&B to pack up and leave. We all drove our cars to Guy’s house where we spent some time going through editing techniques in his study, as it was too bright and sunny for photography at midday. We left our cars there and Guy took us to west Dorset to show us all the possible photography locations, when the weather was not so bright! I think we have explored every inch of Dorset!
The plan was to photograph more hills and patterns in the good afternoon light, but a thick bank of cloud rolled in which changed those plans. Instead we went back to Portland Bill lighthouse to photograph it from another point of view that was suitable for the hazy skies. It was very windy and cold again, I was back in a woolly hat with gloves on as the wind was cold there on the coast.
We only got back to our cars in Dorchester at 7.30 and then I still had the long drive home of nearly 2.5 hours so it’s a very late night for me. I did consider staying over and would have if our accommodation was any better, but I preferred to rather drive home. I got home just before 10pm and have quickly edited this one photo to upload my blip, I will look at the other photos tomorrow.
Today, 29 years ago, I became a mother for the first time! In other words it’s Luke’s birthday today. We will see him tomorrow to celebrate.
