Just outside the city of Glasgow ...

.. is the town of Rutherglen which was granted it's royal burgh status in 1126 (900 years ago next year).
Some of the listed buildings on the Main Street ...
Rutherglen Old Parish Church. B listed, dating from 1900 by renowned architect John James Burnet, it's still in use as a church.
Right next to the church are the remnants of the A listed medieval Tower and church.
Next to this is the Scots baronial former Town Hall A listed, dating from 1861 by Charles Wilson. Now council offices, a cafe and concert venue.
Across the road is the A listed St Columbkille's Church, designed by Gillespie, Kidd and Coia in 1934 and still in use as originally intended.
I haven't covered all the listed buildings on this short stretch of the street. More another day.
