Restoration

Today I enjoyed a pre-opening tour of Glasgow’s famous Citizen’s Theatre which is reaching the end of a major refurbishment. It is still undergoing the internal refit so it was a real privilege to, literally, see behind the scenes prior to the re-opening for performances in September. The visit was organised by Strathclyde University’s Architecture & Design Club.
We were asked not to post pictures so my blip is the exterior shot.
It shows six 150 year old statues which have been restored and mounted on the roof. Previously they were in the foyer and had been painted white! They represent Burns, Shakespeare and the four muses of music, comedy, drama and dance, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomene and Terpsichore.
A beautiful sunny day in Glasgow.
