Day 24 - La Mezquita Córdoba

Day 24 of my Gratitude/Walk/Photo Challenge.
Today I was grateful for the opportunity to explore yet another beautiful Spanish city. Córdoba has thus far lived up to my expectations. Rich in history, stunningly beautiful, and a culinary delight...
Walked my wee legs off today. 2+ miles before breakfast, another 3+ exploring the city, including the amazing Mezquita, then another 2+ miles exploring in the evening. Impossible to measure accurately as the teeny streets and thick walls block out the GPS. Taking 8 miles for today.
Photos are abundant as Córdoba makes it impossible to whittle down to one - however, the stunning Mezquita deserves the honour today.
The Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba is the greatest representation of the splendour of the Umayyad dynasty, and is considered by many experts to be the best example of Muslim influence in Spain. Since 1984, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This architectural masterpiece is still standing, after 1,000 years, thanks to the construction of the cathedral. This all makes it an icon of Cordoba, once the most important city in all of Western Europe.
