Watermans Arts Centre, Brentford

The arts centre opened in 1984 and although it had pleasant areas inside (theatre, cinema, café) from the outside it was such an unprepossessing building that early on 'I am not a car park' was painted in large letters on the wall. The entrance is hidden up the steps, and there are no windows onto the street. Sadly, after years of underfunding, the pandemic finished it off and it closed in March 2024. I thought I had better record it now before it is demolished. There is a long term plan to build a new arts centre in Brentford, but no sign of anything yet.
