Crossing Scapa Flow
Being of a lazy nature I can’t be bothered to verify the date; albeit it is recorded in Blip. Maybe it was ten years ago. However, CMC had invited Arthur (the thinking biped’s Shetlander) and Bunty (former Caithness Beauty Queen) for a light lunch. After they had gone, we’d planned to have tea and we had tickets for an evening dance. In the afternoon we chatted and Arthur called for bigger drams. He settled in. Teatime came and CMC made us all a fine meal. Bunty kept reminding Arthur that a) they had been invited for lunch and b) we were going out to a dance. It was at this stage that Arthur well and truly settled in. They left just after midnight, and we never got to the dance. Bunty was really mortified, it’s been mentioned several times over the years. It has been a superb day for the garden today. For a break the Current Mrs Creel took me out for lunch; then back home for more gardening. I saw two folk on the cliff top walk taking advantage of the remarkable weather. I am currently digging up Border 1 for a redesign. I threw a stone in the bucket, looked up, and Bunty smiled, Arthur was a few paces behind. I asked them in and put the kettle on. I sought out CMC (back of the polycrub) and said ‘You’ll never believe this.’ I didn’t tell her who it was. When we got round to the porch Arthur had settled in. He claimed not to remember the previous ‘incident’. We don’t have tickets for a dance this evening…………………..
