Dream

I had a dream
A marvellous dream
I dreamed a headline
It said:

TRUMP IS DEAD

There was cheering
and the drinking of champagne
I was glad to be there

but then I wasn't there
I was in Trafalgar Square
maybe it was Times Square
the crowds were going joyfully crazy
so glad to be alive
they were wearing the sort of clothes
I'd seen my mum and dad wearing
in old black and white photos

is it VE day? I asked a sailor
who swept me off my feet
and kissed me lovely and hard
on the lips

ahhh

I woke up

and wept
